Health Insurance Update

Last Friday, June 3rd, The Employee Benefits division presented in two separate committees and we wanted to provide a quick summary and provide you with the meeting documents.

  • EBD has requested that the state's contribution to the health insurance plan increase from 65% to 80% over duration of five years. Analysis; This is great for state employees as it will have great potential to eliminate the need for large, one time increases in premiums.

  • United Healthcare has been selected to be the administrator of the retiree Medicare Advantage plan.

  • The plan mirrors the current plan and includes an opt out clause.

  • These requests passed the Board of Finance and will go the Arkansas Legislative Council - Employee Benefits Advisory Committee on June 15th for a final vote.
