ASEA Scholarships

ASEA awards scholarships annually in amounts up to $1000.
Applications are only accepted between January 1 and 31 of each year.
​Scholarship Eligibility

Scholarships are awarded to ASEA members or their dependents to pursue higher education.*
Applicants must be either:
A) The child, grandchild, great-grandchild, stepchild, or legally adopted child of a member of ASEA; or
B) A full-time state employee AND member of ASEA.
The individual seeking a scholarship must fall within one of these limited groups to be considered.

ASEA members who apply or have an eligible dependent who applies for a scholarship must retain their membership for at least one year following the application deadline.

Scholarships do not automatically renew. Previous applicants, whether awarded a scholarship or not, may submit a new application each year.

Application Criteria

Applications must be submitted online.

Only applications submitted from January 1st to January 31st will be reviewed.

Applications must be neat and complete. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Current GPA of 3.25 or higher.

Full-time state employees without recent GPA or scores will be evaluated on work and personal references, quality of essay and community service/ leadership.

Quality of essay that describes how you will use your education to improve the lives of others (answers essay prompt, is organized/persuasive, uses correct spelling and grammar, etc.).

Extracurricular activity/Community service/Leadership.

Application Contents
In addition to the online form, applicants will need to provide the following to complete the application:

Two (2) letters of recommendation on letterhead that includes the name and contact information of the signer.

Official high school and/or college transcripts. Copies are acceptable as long as the official seal and signature are present and visible.
Award Process

Only applications submitted online from January 1st to January 31st will be reviewed.

ASEA will notify applicants by letter whether or not they are awarded a scholarship.

Scholarship recipients will be asked to provide additional information about their institution of higher education so that a check can be forwarded to their school on their behalf.

* Higher education includes two-year and four-year colleges, trade or technical schools and professional development courses relevant to current employment.
