2027 Active Employee Insurance rates Health Insurance Rates

The 2027 rates for active state employees (ASE) in the State Health Insurance Program have been approved. For the first time in three years, increases in contributions will come from employees rather than from the state. This is part of a plan approved several years ago to pause increases for the employees while the state increased their contributions to reach 70%. You can see the unofficial contribution development breakdown as it was presented the Arkansas Legislative Council here.

Active employee rates will increase 9.8%, which is $2.50 to $30 per pay period depending on your plan.

Pre-65 employee rates will also increase from $6 to $54 per pay period depending on your plan.

ASEA made a request to the administration ahead of the Merit pay announcement (seen here). While not the news everyone wants to hear, the recent Merit raises should help offset these increases that do not start until 2027.

EBD will publish the official rates in the near future.

Retiree News

Insurance rates for retired employees will increase from 6% to 9.1%, or between $1.68 and $95 per month, depending on your plan. Retired state employees will also receive a 3% cost of living adjustment (COLA) on their retirement plan benefit check starting in July.

Board Member Applications

Elections to the ASEA board will take place at the Annual ASEA Business Meeting. Members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the candidates and share any feedback with ASEA or their board representative.

ASEA members can also apply for an open position here.

IRC Nominations

The Interdepartmental Relations Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Administrative Professional of the Year.
