A Safe Commute To Little Rock

Gary Dallas of Vilonia
has driven the equivalent of to the moon and back without an accident. |
- The A.S.E.A./SEBCO VanPool provides
safe, economical and convenient commuting for individuals that work in
specific areas of Little Rock.
- Riders pay a fixed fee
based on mileage to reserve a seat on a van.
- Drivers pick up riders
in a central location in the community on a fixed schedule. Drivers
wait for three minutes before departing.
- Drivers drop off riders
as close as possible to their place of employment. The VanPool serves
state agencies in downtown and west Little Rock (east of Shackleford
Road.)
- At the end of the day,
drivers pick up riders at the work location and return to the central
location in the community.
- The VanPool program was
established to serve state employees who are A.S.E.A. members. If seats
are available, non-state employees who are A.S.E.A. associate members
may participate.
- VanPool fees are
payroll-deducted for state employees. Non-state employees are billed
monthly.
- Employees who live in
the community being served drive the vans. All drivers and back-up
drivers must be 25 years old and have a valid drivers' license. They
must have had no moving violations within the past three years. All
drivers complete a defensive driving course given through SEBCO.
- The vans run Monday
through Friday. They do not run on official state holidays.
- The VanPool program has
been operating since 1979. Currently, more than 300 riders are
transported daily on SEBCO's 27 vans.
- VanPool riders save
money on gas, upkeep of their vehicles, car insurance and parking
costs.
